Villa Joanna, near Elafonisi

Villa Joanna is located on the west coast of Crete about half way between the world- famous beaches of Elafonisi and Fallasarna and roughly 10 kilometres from the pretty mountain villages of Elos and Kefali. This is magnificent unspoiled genuine Greek Island mountain countryside, with no recognition of tourism anywhere nearby. The house is in a tiny hamlet, and is built on a rocky outcrop overlooking the beautiful clear blue sea.

Much of the beach is rock and pebbles here - the water fresh and sparkling clean. The surf and its sound is beautiful, particularly as one falls asleep. There are around twenty houses in the hamlet in total so one feels alone but not lonely. In the centre of the hamlet is a group of six houses, all built in recent years, of which Joanna is one. These beautiful buildings blend local materials and traditional craftsmanship with comfortable interior design and style.

Approached from a lane, Joanna has its own private entrance and parking area. Walk through the gate and the 11m x 4.5m pool and gardens and the fabulous view across the sea, just 200m away, are immediately in front of you.

Whilst next door to Villa Sophia, the pool, gardens and terrace sitting areas are designed in such a way that they are completely out of sight of each other and indeed anyone else, since neither the terrace nor the pool are overlooked by other buildings, or roads, or pathways etc.

The traditional feel of stone and wood runs into the house itself. The big sitting room, and then split-level to the dining area and fully-fitted kitchen run across the width of the house at the front and the windows all look across the pool and terrace to the sea and to the island of Elafonisi to the south. Leading from the sitting room takes us to the two bedrooms, both at the rear of the house. There is a twin at the same level and a double up at split-level, each with its own bathroom, one of which has a jacuzzi. From the main double-bedroom, patio doors open out privately onto the pool and terrace areas.

The décor and interior styling of Villa Joanna is a romantic delight and combines a feeling of holiday relaxation with the feeling that this is a real home. The house is fully equipped for all year round occupation and features air-conditioning, satellite television, a wood-burning stove for cooler winter days, a whirlpool/jacuzzi style bath, washing machine, microwave and full-size conventional cooker and so on.

Villa Joanna is for those who want to get completely away from the crowds and retreat into a comfortable traditional Cretan home - not at all for those who want the hustle and bustle of shops and tourists or who need others to entertain them in the evenings. The house is private but not completely isolated. The beach is less than ten minutes walk from the house. There is a mini-market just two hundred metres away and the Cretan Kitchen there will be happy to cook meals to order and deliver them to you on days when you really don’t want to do anything at all!

Villa Joanna is a perfect haven for two couples travelling together, or for a couple with two children, or perhaps for a couple for who want to pamper themselves in warm, romantic, private luxury!

Our rental pricing structure is very straightforward and based on the natural seasons of Winter, Spring, Summer and Autumn. We do not have complicated price bands that maximise prices around school holidays in any particular country. There are no hidden costs or casually mentioned extras as apparent afterthoughts - our prices include electricity, water and local authority charges, all linen, cleaning and immediate food supplies for arrival.

We always offer you the freedom to choose the day of the week when your holiday will begin and end and because we don't have weekly 'change-over days' you can rent for as long as you wish and come and go any day of the week – you choose!
